This video diary was taken at the seasonal flu clinic this October. There will be several flu clinics given between November and February by the MRC. To see a complete schedule and how you can get the shot or volunteer, go HERE.

The Hudson Board of Health is seeking individuals who are interested in joining our Hudson Medical Reserve Corps (MRC).  This volunteer reserve corps is made up of volunteers who assist in preparing for and responding to public health emergencies in OUR community.  Public health emergencies, such as a pandemic flu, will easily overwhelm our town’s emergency response team.

This volunteer corps is created to support our town’s team in an event of public health emergency.  We work with the Marlborough Hospital, the American Red Cross, adjacent cities and towns, and other agencies as needed.

Training will be provided in many related disciplines.  You don’t have to have medical background to join this volunteer reserve corps.  We are looking for people who will make a commitment to help their friends, families, and their community in whatever capacity they could.  We need your help in assisting us by joining this volunteer corps, or promoting this opportunity to other Hudson residents.

We are seeking the following volunteers:

  • Medical, Public, and Mental Health Professionals: physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, medical technicians, counselors, social workers, psychologists, veterinarians, epidemiologists, EMT’s, etc.
  • Clerical Support: greeters, registrars, general administrative help
  • Interpreters: Portuguese & Spanish interpreters
  • Security: traffic flow, parking, etc.
  • Transportation: to help people get to our dispensing sites
  • Child Care: for our other volunteers

We are also looking for retired medical professionals.  If you know any that is also a Hudson resident, please ask him/her to contact us.

Volunteers are protected from liability by the federal Volunteer Protection Act of 1997, as well as Massachusetts Good Samaritan Laws for licensed medical professionals and non-medical volunteers.

We are hosting regular informational sessions to share more information on our volunteer reserve corps, and to answer questions.  We encourage interested residents to attend.  If you cannot attend these meetings, simply stop by our office at the Town Hall.
